| The
Inspections Department provides for the safety and protection
of people and property through the enforcement of the North
Carolina Building Code as adopted by the North Carolina Building
Code Council. The Department issues permits and provides inspections
for all types of building and structure, erection, relocation,
setup, construction and renovation activities. Field inspection
and enforcement of the County's Flood Hazard Prevention Ordinance
as required for eligibility for home owners flood insurance
under the Federal Flood Insurance Program is provided for
all structures. The Inspections Department also coordinates
with the Planning Department in permitting activities and
enforcement of related State and Local Ordinance requirements.
The Department's Inspectors are required to be certified by
the North Carolina Code Qualification Board under standards
administered by the State Department of Insurance. |
