Beginning March 1, 2008, all convenience center patrons must display a current solid waste sticker. These stickers are being mailed to all taxpayers who pay either the $62 recycling only fee, or the full $137 solid waste fee. Upon receipt, please place this on your windshield, over your inspection sticker so that the site attendants will be able to readily identify you as eligible. NO ONE without a sticker will be permitted to dump trash at these sites.
Effective March 1, 2008 the site attendants will no longer be able to issue stickers at the sites. If you require additional stickers, please bring proof of residency and your tax parcel information to either the Pender County Tax Assessor’s Office (300 E. Fremont Street, Burgaw), Pender Utilities (605 E. Fremont Street, Burgaw), or to the Transfer Station trailer office located on Transfer Station Road in Hampstead.
This is being done in an effort to curtail out of county waste from being processed at County facilities, and ultimately, to save taxpayer dollars. We have taken great steps in planning this program to minimize inconvenience. We will do our best to make this transition as smooth as possible for everyone. If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact Melinda Knoerzer at 910.259.1521. |
